The grandfather of long-grain rice in the Americas, Carolina Gold is a delicate, non-aromatic rice with chameleon starch properties that allow it to produce fluffy, individual grains; creamy risotto; or sticky Asian-style rice, depending on how it is cooked. Gluten Free.
Directions: In a medium saucepan with a lid, add 1 cup of rice and 4 cups of water. Soak for 30 minutes, then rinse and strain. Add another 4 cups of water with a pinch of salt and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for 25 minutes on low, or until all the water has absorbed and the rice is soft and fluffy.
Refrigerate Upon Receipt. Unopened packages stored at room temperature remain fresh for 2-3 weeks.
Tips and uses: Carolina Gold rice can be used in many different ways. Soak and add some rice wine vinegar for sushi rice texture. Toast in a pan after browning meat and use as risotto. Or cook with butter and stock like basmati rice.
