We are seeking a graphic designer/video and photo editor to join our marketing team and directly support our portfolio of brands on various design projects in support of our marketing efforts! You will directly report to our Creative director, and work closely with the Marketing team to create deliverables (graphics, web pages, photography, packaging, videos, etc.) according to specifications, as well as provide original creative ideas/comps. This role will support the design and creative functions for the four Dr. Cowan brands: Dr. Cowan’s Garden, Dr. Tom Cowan, New Biology Clinic and New Biology Curriculum.
The successful candidate for this position will be proactive in managing their workload, have fresh ideas, be open to learning more, create impressive designs and have a keen eye for detail. Our ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and is skilled in the latest design and photography/video editing trends, responsive web and mobile best practices. You are expected to actively participate in the creative process, and we welcome your contributions.

Cowan Brands consists of four family-owned companies in the health food and alternative health and wellness industries. Graphic Designer Job Responsibilities
- Works directly with the Marketing team, under Creative Director’s guidance, to design and implement creative graphics and content, both print and digital, on time and within budget, using appropriate “brand voice,” style guidelines and positioning
- Create layouts and edit photos, videos and graphics for our websites, email campaigns/flows, social sites, digital ads/promos, packaging and printed promotional materials
- Implement UI elements in HTML/CSS, Shopify, Klaviyo and other digital tools
- Edit digital assets (email, landing pages, content downloads) in selected web marketing tools
- Collaborate with the marketing department, under the guidance of the Creative Director, to confirm marketing objectives, creative direction, brand consistency and project priorities
- Plan concept by gathering and studying information, materials, and art direction provided
- Illustrate concept by designing rough layout of art and copy regarding art dimensions, typography, graphics, composition
- Obtain approval of concept by submitting rough layout to Creative Director for approval
- Complete revisions as necessary
- Prepare finished work in approved final format and obtain final approval
- Coordinate utilization of final work as instructed and centrally archive all original layered files in the company’s Digital Asset Management software, using our nomenclature, labels and tags.
- Deliver assignments on time, proactively following up on information and feedback needed
- Support Creative Director and Video Content Editor on-site as needed for photo and video shoots, including editing and final output
- Suggest and help implement new ideas for creative content
- Stay current on new digital technologies and graphic design best practices
- Assist with large projects, events and community management
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed
- Reports to Creative Director, with dotted line to Marketing Director
Compensation
$35,000-$50,000 annually, commensurate with skills and experience

Graphic Designer Qualifications / Skills:
- 2-4 years of experience in graphic design
- Solid understanding of graphic design principles, photography, video and printing procedures
- Advanced knowledge of Canva and Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere Pro; InDesign and Klaviyo a plus
- Experience with HTML/CSS, especially Shopify and WordPress
- Familiarity with production and rendering methods, including drawing, offset printing, photography, and interactive media
- Advanced photo and mid-level video editing skills
- Creative thinking skills
- Team player who operates with urgency, focus and discipline
- Detail oriented and skilled at multitasking
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Education and Experience Requirements
- 2-4 years of hands-on experience with graphic design across digital and print platforms
- Proven experience with photo and video editing
- Familiarity with WordPress and Shopify e-commerce platforms
- Previous experience in health and wellness industry is preferred
- Some knowledge of SEO, keyword research and Google Analytics is a plus
What Year One Will Look Like
- Within 1 month, you’ll:
- Gain a basic overview of our businesses
- Learn the core functions of our technology tools
- Be able to execute assignments under the direction of the Creative Director
- Within 3 months, you’ll:
- Develop a deeper knowledge of our products and philosophies
- Be able to work more independently in the execution of your responsibilities, under the direction of the Creative Director
- Identify and execute opportunities for improving creative content
- Learn additional functions of our technology tools and make recommendations
- Within 12 months, you’ll:
- Be able to provide insights and recommendations for creative content
- Work independently with minimal direction while adhering to stated project parameters
- Understand and utilize the full capabilities of our technologies
- Make recommendations for continuous improvement
